Ideas eat strategy for breakfast. Ideas often exist well before the strategy, and this is fine. Ideas and strategy inform each other; ideas shape strategy and strategy shapes ideas – let them.”

Why did you co-found High Noon?

We all want to leave a legacy. Driven by moral ambition and inspired by Ikigai, I wanted to make mine about what I'm good at, what I enjoy and what the world needs: impact innovation. I saw a lot of activity and expectation around impact start-ups, many of which fail to deliver. All the while, the big scaled brands continue to produce and grow. And I wondered: why not focus on making an impact with those big brands? I believe huge impact can be made by making even small changes in scaled brands; one step at a time.

What is your golden rule in innovation?

Always have a strategy. Expecting innovation success without having a clear definition of what innovation needs to do for your organisation and what your opportunity areas are, is like driving a car in the blind...

What is your dream project?

Defining the sustainable innovation strategy & roadmap for an impact-ready organization.

Which misperception on innovation do you want to debunk?

That innovation should be all playground, zero commitment. Innovation needs clear targets and scope, to help people spring out of inertia and achieve innovation success. Freedom within a framework.

How do you celebrate your successes?

Savouring the moment.

We can't expect mass consumers to pay a price premium for impact; we need to offer them a superior proposition, one that's meeting all relevant needs, while also being better for people and planet.”
